Quotes

Johnny Herbert (Team ADT Champion Racing Audi R8 #38)
“This was a massive victory for the Champion Team. It’s great we were able to give Dave Maraj a home win. I'm also pleased for the whole team that puts a lot of hard work into it. There had been many caution periods in last year’s race, so we expected the same for this year and planned our strategy that way. We were lucky to get the yellows, which of course helped us. But we were on the safe side, there was still fuel left at the finish.”

Frank Biela (Infineon Team Joest Audi R8 #1)
“I am not totally happy with our race. But from the championship’s point of view we had no other choice. We could not afford a retirement. It was important for us to finish the race. We managed to do so, making another big step towards the championship. The Champion Team was very strong here. Today we had the championship too much on our minds to beat them.”

Dr Wolfgang Ullrich (Head of Audi Sport)
“Congratulations to the Champion Team. They were faster today and deserved victory. Champion risked a lot and had to fear until the very end if the fuel would last. But the risk payed off. The many caution periods helped Champion, but Johnny (Herbert) and JJ (Lehto) were very strong. Frank (Biela) and Marco (Werner) today were thinking more of the championship.”
