Thanks to a strong team effort, Team ADT Champion Racing defended its lead in the American Le Mans Series. In round three at Mid-Ohio, reigning champion JJ Lehto was involved omn lap 15 in a collision, when a Porsche spun and a Panoz Esperante made an emergency braking JJ could not avoid him. JJ 3wheeled the car back to the pits. The modular construction of the Audi R8 allowed the team to repair the badly damaged car. 40 minutes after the spectacular accident, Lehto´s team-mate Marco Werner was able to rejoin the race, securing fifth place in the LM P1 class and thus defending the overall lead in the ALMS. After a double stint Emanuele Pirro handed the Audi R8 to Frank Biela in P1. Frank Biela had to serve a stop-and-go-penalty for making contact with the Maserati MC12, in the closing stages of the race all Teams had to battle with difficult conditions caused by rain.

The next race will be in Lime Rock Connecticut, 4 July.
